1. What You Actually Read, Written Down

This chapter teaches how to build a personal record of what, where, and how you actually read before comparing any e-reader, working through real file checks and three contrasting reader examples, then covers recent firmware changes affecting Kindle library loans and Kobo store purchases.

2. Why the Page Stays There When the Power Goes Off

A lesson on the one trade every e-reader screen makes: a page that holds itself without power and uses room light, in exchange for being slow to change. It covers the pigment capsules inside, refresh recipes and ghosting, pen latency, the difference from reflective LCD and lit phone screens, four device shapes, and recent releases and price changes.

3. Reading the Screen Specification Instead of Believing It

A close reading of the four screen columns on an e-reader comparison page — panel generation, PPI, size and colour — asking what each number is actually evidence of, and under what conditions it was measured. Ends with two checks you can run on hardware you already own, plus recent news from Boox, reMarkable, Libby and Kindle.
